Writing Out of Due Time has definitely taught me to face and take control of old emotions. It has also made me remember a time when others were in control of those emotions.
Out of Due Time focuses on a time period when I was pregnant with Taliesin, my ten-year old son. Because I became pregnant prior to being married, I faced so many accusations and misunderstanding from a family seeped in right vs. wrong. I did not tell anyone in my family about my pregnancy for several months, because I knew what the reaction would be. There is one memory from these early months that I cannot forget. I had been sick. I was waiting for Kelsey to get off from work at the restaurant that we both worked at at the time. A family member came in and saw me. Seeing I was sick, of course, he told me to go to the doctor. When I indicated I did not want to right then, I remember him telling me there are only a couple of reasons I would not want to; and "neither of them are very good reasons." There were constant arguments between me and my family. When I finally got the courage to tell the pastor of the church I was going to at the time, I had everything that was meaningful to me taken away. I often say that the only ones who were there for me during those months were God and Kelsey. I felt totally lost. I didn't know what to do. I prayed. A lot.
I still believe the reason I developed preeclampsia was all of the stress I was facing. But this preeclampsia is what eventually stopped the accusations, the fighting, the overpowering anxiety. I could not be stressed. My blood pressure had been so high, I had been hospitalized for a week. When I was able to go home, I needed relaxation. My body had shown it could not handle the pressure.
I also believe, however, that this break from my past - a break caused by accusations and stress - made me stronger. Much like what would happen several years later, this breaking helped me see who God wanted me be, as a parent and as His servant. It was truly a first step in breaking the control others had over me.
This time era in my life caused me to face my own insecurities and showed me how I could have handled situations differently. Healing would not come for several years later.

Out of Due Time
I
believe I was supposed to write Out of Due Time to show my own
imperfections and, more importantly, God's grace in spite (or perhaps
because) of them. God told me as I began writing it that I need to be
honest with myself and others - to put it all on the line, so to speak -
so that the ministry He has called me to can be open and honest, with
no hindrances, no "skeletons in the closet" to be discovered later. It
was both one of the most difficult and most healing projects I have
ever written. There are so many emotions running through it. But at
some point, we all have to stop hiding. Now that it is put in words, I
believe I can continue to focus on other avenues of ministry as well.
It has been quite a while (too long) since I have posted on this blog, or any of my blogs for that matter.
I do, however, want to post about a project I am very excited about. It is my book Out of Due Time. I began this project a little over two years ago. It has changed and evolved into a project that recounts my experiences with God's restoration process. Right now, this book is in the editing stage. I cannot wait to prayerfully submit it for publication and see where God takes it.

Women of Passions
Well, we just finished our Ignite Your Passions conference for Women of Passions. I have to say it was an awesome experience! The speakers were definitely passionate about God and about family! I feel very blessed to have been a part of it! I am posting below my teaching from the conference. I hope you enjoy it!
How many of you are parents here? Have you ever noticed how kids change our lives? We pretty much live for our families. I have always known this. I wrote in the Women of Passions book about reasons that I left my last job – reasons that many others do not understand. What I did not mention in the article was another reason that I left this job is they would not work with the schedule that I needed with my sons. I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Just a couple of weeks ago, I only worked for four hours in one complete week at my present job. My sons were pretty sick – running high fevers and all the fun stuff that comes with having sick kids. I remember the last day that my son Nathanael was feeling under the weather, I called in to work and told the manager that if his fever went down; I would come in. If it did not, I would not be in that night. Nathanael, who was cuddling on my lap at the time looked at me and said, “You can’t go to work.” I asked him, “I can’t?” Without missing a beat, he looked at me and said, “No,because I sick; and I am the world of you.” This wisdom from my four-year old son really brought things into perspective for me. How do we choose what we do on a day-to-day basis? How do we make the choices that truly matter in our lives?
Do you ever catch yourself wondering “why?” Why do I have to choose between work and family? How do I possibly balance enough time for each? Why am I stuck in this job? Why are we having these health issues? Why are we having these financial issues? Why would God allow this to happen? We are told in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good to those who love God. Do you ever wonder what that meant to Paul’s audience and how that truly applies to us?
There is an age-old question that skeptics love to present, theologians love to answer, and philosophers love to contemplate. It’s a question that us ordinary people think about a lot more than we really care to let on – “Why does a good God allow suffering?” This could be a question the Roman church asked itself on more than one occasion – a question that was answered in Romans 8:28. The Roman church was unique – kind of like Christians today. No one knows for sure who actually founded the church in Rome. Some say it was the apostle Peter. Others day Paul did. Still others say that early Jewish Christians traveled to Rome and started it. Whoever its founder, the Roman church was unique in that it was comprised of both Jewish and Gentile Christians. And this diversity was causing arguments within the church itself. Does this sound familiar? So many times within churches or groups or even within families, our diversity – our differences cause tension. And how many times do we ask God to take our side? “God, You know that I live for You! I know this is how You feel, so please change their mind.” Isaiah 40:13-14 asks us an important question –who is it that understands the mind of God and who has given Him council? That is an extremely humbling question – who of us has known the mind, the spirit, the inner being of God? Which of us would be worthy to give God guidance?
This is exactly what God reminded these early Roman Christians of in the early Chapters of Romans. He reminded the Jewish Christians of the Roman church that they will be judged by the very Law they are judging others with. He reminded the Gentile Christians that they really had no room whatsoever to condemn another. After all, they are the ones who had chosen to worship creation rather than the Creator before God, in His grace, brought them the Message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In short, He was asking both groups, “Who are you to point out their sin?” Now, something else we have to keep in mind when we study the Romans is that not only were they experiencing conflict on the inside, they were also a persecuted church. Now, granted they were probably not a part of the early persecution in which Christians were killed because of their beliefs. They were, however, ostracized because of their beliefs. If you have ever felt like no one understands you, that’s probably a good idea of how these Romans felt – and with good reason. Have you ever felt as though things are coming from you from all directions? And it’s especially hurtful when these things are happening to those we care about. Somehow, we can usually withstand comments and attitudes toward ourselves. But we have a hard time dealing with it when the persecution hurts someone that we care about. And have you ever noticed that when we really are passionate about a project that we know God has called us to that this is when the troubles really start. I’m sure the Roman Christians were feeling this way as well.
I remember when I first became involved with this conference. At the same time, I began writing a book that I have felt a deep call to write. This is the exact same time that issues began arising – financial issues, sickness within the family, all kinds of things. The final straw, for me, came when it began affecting my four-year old son. Do any of you that have children or grandchildren or kids that you care about know what a lovey is? Taliesin, my six-year old, has a stuffed reindeer that he carried around for quite a few years. In fact, Taliesin’s lovey has been in more than one of our family pictures. Well, Nathanael found his lovey a little over a year ago in the toybox – a gray tiger striped cat he named “Flower.” Well, shortly after I began these projects, “Flower” disappeared – literally. Nathanael was devastated. He is the kind of child who does not like a lot of toys. At Christmas, he usually asks for one toy and says he does not want anymore. He has one backpack that he carries one or two favorite books in. He has a pair of silky black basketball shorts that he lives in during the summer. And as far as stuffed toys go, “Flower” was it! I remember Nathanael getting out his other toys and trying to play. He would stop and say, “Mommy, why are eyes wet?” He could not enjoy himself. Even after two weeks and a brand new gray tiger striped cat I foundonline; he still was as sad as he was the first day Flower was lost. I admit I wondered why during those long days. I can really relate to the Roman Christians. Here they were, doing the work of God, and they were facing these issues – both internally and externally. They were so good at doing the work of God, in fact, that Paul commends their faithfulness in Romans 1:8. He even said that he thanked God for their faithfulness, which was being declared all throughout the world! Everyone was hearing of their faithfulness. So why were they having so many problems?
Do we have any country music fans here? I admit that I love country music, and one of my favorite songs is a song that came out a few years ago called “A Few Questions.” This song asks questions like “How can we put a man on the moon and still have a need for a place like St. Jude’s?” and “How can two people who have built a loving home try for years and never have a child of their own? And somewhere out there tonight there’s a baby no one’s holding tight in need of love?” What I love about this song is it finds its answer in the Bible – specifically from the Book of Job – “Where you there when I hung the stars? Were you there when I created the world?” When these Roman Christians asked why, God answered because “all things work together for good to them who love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Back when my little boy, my son who did not even want to unwrap the presents at his fourth birthday party because he missed his “best friend” was enduring his own suffering, I claimed this Verse. I did something that, all too often, we forget to do. I gave God the control of everything. I had taken control long enough. I had justified in my mind that I was his mother, and I needed to make everything okay. I could do that no more. That is a very humbling feeling when you do realize that God is so much greater. He deserves the control. We do not. That very night while my husband and I were at work, my sister who babysits for us had her own spiritual encounter. “Flower” was found on top of a desk in a room that three people had previously searched. Maybe “Flower” had a Toy Story adventure. I do not venture to guess. What I do know is God was and still is in control of everything.
But Romans does not stop with reminding us that all things work together for good, it also reminds us of our future rewards for our perseverance. Romans 8:18 reminds us that what we suffer now is not even close to the glory that God has prepared for us. Even creation itself is awaiting that day. – That day when we will share in the glory of Christ and be liberated from our sufferings. We have something special. It’s called hope. And what’s more, until that day, we have God’s Spirit living within us andmaking intercession for us. If God be for us, who can be against us? God will have the final say. We are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us so. What an amazing thought!
To close, I would like to pose a question that you can answer by looking deeply within yourself. Do you feel a call upon your life? But is something stopping you from following it? Are there situations that are beyond your control that are preventing you from listening to what God truly desires you to be? I encourage you to give it to God. Only He can have the victory. We can learn a lot from the early Roman church. We are a lot like them. And, like them, we have the same promises of God – promises that He will be there with us, all the way.

Anyone Watching the Oscars?
Is anyone watching the Oscars tonight? I really never have, but I am interested to discover if Heath Ledger wins the Oscar for best supporting actor for his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Definitely rooting for him to. Too bad we don't have cable and I have to work tonight. :^) Oh, well, I've asked my brother to record it for me. If he does win, I'll have a video of this moment in history. :^)

Happy New Year!
My Resolutions for 2009:
To be the best wife and mom I can be, to continue my studies of God's Word, to continue following the call the Lord has placed upon my life, to continue allowing my sons to follow their interests and learn everyday - encouraging them to follow their own dreams and goals, and it would be nice to get in better physical shape.
My Goals for 2009:
Keep working hard in college (passing with all "A"s would definitely be nice), finish the Heath Ledger book for a spring publication, and continue working on my freelance writing (2008 has been a wonderful year for that).

More on Promotional Tour
Everything went so well for the beginning stages of the Women of Passions promotional tour yesterday! Jeanice and I talked with the pastor of my church. We are planning to have the conference/book signing there either the first or second weekend in March. It will be a two-day event. We also took some complimentary copies of the book around to a few churches here to let them know about the event. Now we begin planning the actual conference and marketing the conference. We're also going to be contacting some local bookstores and the public library. This is definitely an invaluable experience! I've had the stomach flu since yesterday afternoon, so as soon as I'm better; I'm going to be making some more contacts. I'll talk with Jeanice again early next month by Messenger.

Promotional Tour
Jeanice from Heart of God International e-mailed me yesterday (I opened it today) requesting that we meet in person sometime next week to discuss the Women of Passions tour. I am so excited! This is a wonderful opportunity to promote Women of Passions and to gain valubable promotion experience for when my own books are published. Speaking of which, I am continuing to write the Heath Ledger book - still shooting for a spring publication. I am eager to see it in print.
I will write more about both projects when new developments unfold.

Merry Christmas!
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria). And all went to be taxed, everyone into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem (because he was of the house of the lineage of David). To be taxed with Mary, his espoused wife, being great with Child. And so it was, that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her first-born Son and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country, shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shown round about them, and they were sore afraid! And the angel said unto them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: ye shall the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger." And, suddenly, there was with the angel a mulitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest! And on earth, peace, goodwill to men!" And it came to pass when the angels were gone way from them, into Heaven, the shepherds said one to another, "Let us now go even unto Bethlehem and see this thing which has come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us." And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph and the Babe, lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this Child. Time to get back into writing
Well, my break from college is here! Not that I do not love college. I do! In fact, I've been given some great writing opportunities in the form of college assignments. One that I wrote this semseter was a reflection paper describing my philosphy of education. But now I can finally dedicate more time again to work on my Heath Ledger book. It's coming along very well and should be ready for a spring publication.
Since my last posting, I have also been working on the Women of Passions promotional tour for this area; and I am now writing regularly for a newsletter published by a local homeschooling group. God is definitely providing opportunities!

Update
Yes, I do understand it has been a long, long time since I have posted. Please understand that I have been dilligently working on my writing in this time. LOL. Mr. Neuman did send me his responses for the Heath Ledger book. I'm excited to include them in this project! I also have received my copy of Homeschooling Horizons that includes my article "The Second Generation" and am to submit another article to them for possible publication in an upcoming issue. I also have been invited to be a part of a promotional tour for Women of Passions, the book project I was a part of earlier this year. Aside from all of this, I have been getting plenty of practice writing research papers for this past eight weeks of college. LOL. These last two classes - a church history class and a class studying in detail the Gospel of John - were very demanding academically and called for much research and writing. These were definitley my kind of classes! But now that they are over, I can dedicate even more time to my book and other writing projects. I just wanted to post an update to let you know I have not fallen off the earth or anything.
God bless.

Movie Ministries
Well, yesterday there was an interesting Terry Mattingly editorial in our local newspaper called "Can Corrupt Movies Teach Good?" The article focused on The Dark Knight. One of the people quoted in the editorial was a guy named Marc Newman from an organization called Movie Ministries dotcom. So I went to the site and viewed his review for myself. I found it very interesting. Here's the link so you can see for yourself: http://www.movieministry.com/articles.php. So I e-mailed Mr. Newman and asked if he would allow me to print his review in my upcoming Heath Ledger book in one of The Dark Knight chapters and asked, if possibly, he may be interested in doing an interview with me. I was estatic when he told me I could do both! So next week, I'll forward him some interview questions; and we'll go from there. I'm thinking it may be interesting to present some opinions of The Dark Knight in one of the chapters. Should be interesting. :^)

Well, Kelly at the CCU list posted today and asked if I would be interested in writing an article for her online homeschooling magazine. Of course I would! Been wanting to break into the area of homeschooling writing. So I submitted an article to her tonight after work and asked if this was what she is looking for. If not, I'll be happy to submit something different. :^) I'll keep you "posted."

Wonder Why
Yesterday, I posted the news link that told how three of the stars of The Imaginarium of Dr. Pernassus are donating the money they make from the movie to Heath Ledger's daughter, Matilda. Well, today I found this. http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/movies/ny-etmvbuzz5807691aug21a,0,6277887.story?track=rss . This is just so sad to me. I wonder why U.S. distributors are so afraid to pick this movie up? No, it's not a high-budget film like The Dark Knight, but after everyone's hard work, it definitely deserves to be seen! Wonder how we can take up the cause for this movie to be seen...

The Dark Knight - a Second Time
Well, tonight we saw The Dark Knight for the second time. I found so many new things I did not notice the first time around. So much more to include in the chapters focusing on the movie for the book. Even though I have not blogged much about my writing for the past few weeks, the book is coming along very well. I'm excited with each new page.

It's been awhile
Sorry it's been forever since I've posted on this blog. I've been very busy writing about The Dark Knight in the Heath Ledger book (and busy with my sons' activities for not back to school), so I haven't had time to post much lately. But I am still very busy on the book and am eager to see everything in print!

The Art of Writing
Writing is a lot like art... The subject and circumstances of any writing project are open to interpretation. But as if with a flower - God's art - too much handling can damage the beauty. When writing about someone or something, I feel the author should choose to reveal enough information so as to illuminate but not to stop it from shining. That is what I am attempting to do with my work.
